⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Pavane Ravel makes it easy to leap into the world of Larry Martin with the highly accessible backstory and context provided in the early stages of this novel, so readers who are new or haven’t read the previous work in the series in a while will have no trouble diving into Larry’s psychological and physical hardships.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ You will feel like you’re actually walking in the shoes of Larry Martin. You will hate him, then empathize him, then cheer him on! Although fictitious, Pavane develops a character that symbolizes hope for humanity.
— Armando Rodriguez, Amazon
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This author drops the reader directly into Larry Martin’s shoes and won’t let you slip out of them. Her words are mesmerizing and well thought out. The opening of this novel has such a despicable character, (Larry), I wondered if my angst would enable me to read forward. Then without warning my emotions changed to despair for him on his life journey. Here the storyline grabbed me in such a way, there were times my heart beat so hard in fright, I wondered if I would make it to the next page.
I caught myself saying out loud, “No, don’t do it!” Learning to live again taught Larry the meaning of contentment and control. Page 151 is my favorite learning lesson in the book where he explains to Anna about control. Well done!
— Zoe J, Amazon
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This book should be mandatory for every adult reading. This is a very well-written story of a morally sick young man’s transformation and growth into a quality human being. The book is an interesting story of the logical consequences of twisted and irrational behavior versus the benefits and rewards of thinking and acting like a thoughtful and caring human being. A triumph for the potential for good in all of us. A must read.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ In Book One, Revelation of Lies, of the series The Other Shoes of Larry Martin, I disliked Larry as a person in the opening chapter. I decided to keep reading and see where this was heading. I’m glad I did. I don’t want to give any spoilers ... but I was fairly astonished at how the author moved me from hating Larry to caring deeply about the guy. It was skillful. I lived Larry’s journey through his eyes and when he cried, I teared up too. I was that moved. Larry is some kind of odd study between cruelty v. kindness, laziness v. self-discipline and internal strength v. fragility. There is something profound going on here. This book fundamentally changed my outlook on the homeless, the way I talk to people and it showed me how to control my emotions. I also liked the metaphysical aspects. I especially liked finally having a progressive hero. Typically, I hate it when someone says they couldn’t put the book down (it’s cliché), but I couldn’t put this book down. I began reading on a Friday evening and read all night long. Then, I spent the weekend thinking about Larry Martin and what I had learned from him. I read a lot, but I have never read a story like Larry Martin. I highly recommend this book and hope it won’t be too long before the next one comes out.
— Kevin Terres, Barnes & Noble
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ There is a sharp political and cultural focus that underlies this work, but it never overpowers the drama of what’s happening. As such, the author’s central messages seep into the story seamlessly and inform much of Larry’s journey and our investment in him. The use of dialogue was a technical triumph in terms of how it drives the story forward with a myriad of pathos, humor, drama, and emotional intelligence.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ I liked that it made me see the homeless in a different view point. I love books that can show how people can change the direction of their life.

A look inside Book One: Revelation of Lies

Larry Martin

Larry Martin

After Larry is fired, he finds himself with no friends. He knows he’s in serious trouble and immediately tries to find work. He calls all his contacts, but no one is interested in helping him. He is down to one last contact to call. The most important one. It’s to Peter Bennett, the only guy he’s ever respected.

Larry knows Peter works for a big-time progressive web-based newspaper. Maybe Peter will give him a chance to write? Peter is kind. Even knowing that Larry worked at The Bart Data Report – a site he considers a trash heap of conspiracy theories and bomb-throwing agitation – he allows Larry to submit two timely political articles.

He doesn’t think Larry has the skill set to write at the level of The Political Standard, but he would see. While Larry is researching his articles for Peter, he begins the struggle of opening his mind from a closed conservative mentality to a massive new progressive worldview. He barely gets his articles written when disaster strikes and he suddenly becomes all that he has mocked and despised.

Now, he has to survive. And after he is struck by a shattering revelation, he knows he has to change. Profoundly. Deeply. Totally. And to keep changing until he becomes an entirely different person. He would save himself in this way …
